Just swapped the fuel pump and mine is non genuine the new one is genuine. On the genuine one it has a black plug which I have nothing to plug into? I’ve done another post - any ideas if that’s just spare or does it need something in? Is it ok as is for safety

Just an update on this I vaguely remember when the lpg was fitted a couple of years ago and they suggested putting a new filter on while they did the return I bought a genuine lr one and they said there was a plug they didn’t need to use as the pump didn’t have it and it was given back to me in the box with the old one …. Think I forgot and binned it so I have ordered a bearMach filter as it was £28’delivers and has the connection I need. I will stick it on initially to see if the new to me pump and filter fix the issue then I lrevert to the genuine as it has the return already in it. Current stable:

May have jumped the gun the existing one is genuine the stamp was in a different place - but it is the original form 2007 with 130k on it - is this a normal age for them to begin to fail? Current stable:

The 5.0 has the same sort of thing and they say it should be changed at 10 years or 100,000 miles so I guess so.. Thumbs Up Pete

The bearmach filter fuel line to the rail connector on the filter disintegrated as I put it in! The hole was too small and when I pulled it out it pulled out all the o rings too and they went everywhere- what crap.

I have taken the wire off it and put it on the original filter now and fired it ran quite rough at idle for a few minutes I really need to drive it I guess.

Plan tomorrow is to clear the adaptations half fill it with shoe then thrash it to see if it’s any better Current stable:

\\Todays Update//

Right I have today… finished reassembly (except carpet and seats)

Filled with half a tank of bp ultimate petrol

Cleared adaptations

Still get the same Kpa readings so I could be unlucky with my pump as I have seen people saying a new pump gives them 450kpa at idle this is still around 300? Could it be duff or is that acceptable?

And you guessed it when you boot it it’s misfires mainly bank one but occasions cylinder 2 as well and has zero power at the higher end the needle doesn’t move even when flat to the floor (I only hold of for 2 secs as i don’t want to damage anything)

New symptom which I suspect was there before but today I had no air con on and the windows open.

Historically if I give it some stock 5500+ I sometimes get the sulphur cat smell I always have, well that seems to have gone and now it smells of exhaust fumes coming in almost a little rich too…

Any ideas? I’m in a bind and have a 2000mile journey she needs to be ready for in 8weeks 🙃 Current stable:

Dan,

Is there just the in tank pump or does it have another pump up front like the 5.0, your symptoms sound so much the same as when I had a high pressure pump fail on mine...

Also, just a thought, have you checked live values to make sure the fly by wire throttle pedal is working to 100%, my old fatty one failed and I got nowhere near 100% when flat out...

Sorry I can't be any more help.... Pete

Thanks Pete

I’ve checked the wsm for the high pressure pump and it’s only listed for the diesels so it doesn’t looks like it… I guess it could be filter but it’s so young…

Pedal is showing as working correctly.

I was having a chat with a buddy who is a BMW mechanic he said even that image wouldn’t show cat damage from the other side and said they normally disconnect the pre cat o2s and remove them so that gases can get out there - it will chuck a mil but would let you stretch it’s legs more if the the cat is the issue.

Would that work here? Is it worth trying this next? Current stable:

My only reservation is I imagine the gases are mega hot - are they likely to melt anything firing out there? Current stable:

EGT is around 400c so not that hot, can't remember which way the o2 sensors face, have a look and see what you think.. Thumbs Up Pete

Afaik the gases will be firing at the back of the pedals… not sure if that’s better or worse Current stable:

I have a resolution!!!!!!!!

Waited until my buddies garage closed and went there for 6 - at lunchtime today I realised I had an aftermarket cat for that bank I took off as it stank but worked fine. Got there and bit the bullet and just pulled the cat off. Whilst the end I saw was fine with the scope the other end had collapsed!

Got my aftermarket one on and boom all is right with the world (except it reeks again)

Here’s the thing I want a more permanent cleaner solution as i have had two cats now and can’t afford it with genuine.

What I’d like is a cheapish pair of decat pipes does anyone know where I can get these? I will then sleeve a pair of magnaflow generic cats in the middle and if they go it’s not the end of the world… Current stable:
