Battery charging via towing port question

Hi all, great forum and been digging about but can't see a link to the towing adapter to charge via a ctek. I think I read about it being in the shop, but I can't find anywhere.. do I need my eyes checked again? Grateful if anyone can point me to it.

I have taken a photo (uploading after posting this) of my rear towing points on my 59 3.6 vogue se, I have never used it and owned it for a year now but just purchased a ctek as saw it on black friday deal for circa £60 and I need to keep it on charge now, as only use it once a week... I am getting scared of the gremlins from a poor battery charge.

Thanks in advance!
FFSteve

First thing is to check you have a 13 pin socket on the back of your car. If yes then pin 9 should be a permanent live and pins 3, 11 and 13 are earths.
If you can confirm this with a multimeter, pin location are available on internet.
You can then buy a 13 pin plug and wire a live and earth to use for your ctek. 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

No need to be scared of the Gremlins Twisted Evil Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

If you fancy a bit of fun DIY with some electrical bits & cable, you can make your own up quite cheaply?

I’ve found this website very useful over the years:

Also did you search for a how-to on YouTube?

Good luck with it! Thumbs Up “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Having bought an adaptor for charging through the towing electrics when the forum shop had them, I can say that they seem to me the most convenient way of connecting to a trickle charger. One can always add a further 'different number of pins' adaptor if the socket and charging adaptor do not match up. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Thanks everyone, I decided to take a peek under the dust caps.. think I may have the first to do it in a very long time Laughing

It is a 7 pin connector, I am now hoping the internet shows me that a 7 pin version works… as I really am liking the idea of just how easy it will be to plug and charge.

Here is a photo to show how bad it is lol

Looking at the link from UK Marine, this looks like it will do the job.. stupid question, as never had a towbar on anything before, I assume I connect it to the white coloured socket , or assume it only connects to 1 of the 7 pin sockets? Guess won’t be long in finding out lol

I replaced the old knackered electrics with a lovey new 13 pin one. Looks so much cleaner and simpler etc 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

It’s the white connector you need to use, same set up as mine.
