2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 V8 Santorini Black

Island 4x4 ?

Hi - has anyone ordered from these guys recently? They have been very helpful in the past, and responsive to email/'phone, but I haven't had a response to an email enquiry sent at the beginning of this week and I have tried telephoning every day but the line just rings out....

Also, has anyone had experience of ordering parts from the UK for delivery in europe (specifically France) and can offer an idea of the local duty and handling charges they faced (vat speaks for itself)?

Can’t help regarding Island 4x4.

I live in France and have had recent deliveries from Opie Oils and Advanced Factors. There is no VAT added at check out with both suppliers. That is supposed to be payable either on delivery or they (the delivery company) email you to pay duty and VAT before they deliver.
In my case, no one asked for anything and my items were delivered in 2 or 3 days with no charges at all. So all VAT free! Winner winner etc!

Island 4x4 are a nightmare to get hold of on the telephone - read that as impossible!

They usually do respond to emails after a few days but it's not quick.

During COVID their dispatch times slipped hugely but they do seem to be back on the ball with that at the moment.

One area I really don't rate them is when you have a problem. They're not particularly interested in helping from experience.

Duckworths for genuine parts followed by Advanced Factors are my first port of call these days. 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather

Many thanks - I'll keep my fingers crossed! The respective government websites are a typical masterclass in lack-of-clarity. The UK one allows you to waste time stepping through their Customs wizard before telling you that they won't tell you the answer because you're not in the UK!! The French one is similarly hopeless. Still, about what we've come to expect these days.....

Many thanks. I've just had a very helpful response from Island 4x4 via email (prompted by this thread?!), so I'm going ahead with my order. As said, I'd always found them to be very helpful and efficient in the past, but, yes, that was pre-covid/pre-brexit and every other recent hindrance to British business!!!

I've used them in the past and found their service to be great including when I've had to return some items. I haven't used them recently however judging by the fact they monitor the forum, it shows they are interested in their reputation and satisfying their customers.

AF are circa 36% more expensive than Island 4x4 for the components I need, and that is with the over £600 10% discount applied. Without the discount they are circa 50% higher.

Still that's nothing compared with the local cost of the same components directly from Allmakes.... an eyewatering c. 1462 eur TTC (1243 gbp at 0.85 eurgbp)!!!

And those are prices per side.

How these huge pricing discrepancies is explained is beyond me (I assume the parts are all coming from Britpart/Allmakes (Britpart acquired Allmakes in 2019)), but I do know where to save myself hundreds of pounds during a financial crisis.

nb fwiw the best prices I could find in Europe were from Germany at c 600eur a side and 40eur delivery... still not as good at best UK prices, unless I get royally kippered by delivery/douane charges.

If you don't know about it already, LR Workshop do a parts price search which searches all of the main Land Rover parts suppliers. I use it whenever I need to buy any parts.

Just put the part number into the search...
