England 2006 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.2 SC V8 Zambezi Silver
Terrible service - Lancaster - Welwyn Garden City

My TD6 needs to go into the supplying dealer to have the steering looked at because at low speeds it is very, very heavy. I suspect the steering rack transducer valve is knackered as at speed it's fine.

So...

I booked the car in with them over a week ago for 2 days to get it looked at under the LR warranty that came with the vehicle. Told them the issue and what I thought needed to be done which was written down on the job sheet. It also needs to have the plastic gear-stick surround that contains the HDC and other switch replaced as they managed to break that before handing me the vehicle over when I bought it... Rolling Eyes I also asked them to turn off the auto door locking feature and check the suspension is OK as it went down last week when Mrs S was driving it...

So....

I drive it down to the dealers at 07:30 Thursday morning, hand over the keys and pick up the courtesy car (Volvo v40). Only one person can drive it Neutral so Mrs S has our Defender to drive around in. Get a call late Thursday they have'nt looked at it as they are behind which is fine because its in for 2 days anyway. I then get a call late Friday to say car will be ready for collection Saturday morning as they want to ensure the suspension doesn't go down overnight. No mention of steering or other things they were to look at... I ask and they tell me 'car is ready'...

Saturday comes.....

Recieve a call from Service dept saying car all ready Mr S so pop down and pick it up. Great say I - they have found the steering issue then? Er. No mention of that on job sheet. I decide to go and collect it as I need the vehicle for the afternoon and I'm fed up of driving a Censored Volvo.

On arrival....
As expected it's not been done. The job card just says 'Steering Heavy - needs further attention' I'm now Censored off. They have had it for 2 days, managed to change the plastic bit (30mins max?), turned off the auto lock feature (5mins?) washed it (?) but not sorted out the steering which is the main issue it went in with.

Politely say I'm extremely Censored off and Service Dept agree there has been a breakdown in communication. Drive off vowing never to let them near it again and have booked it in with 'Lookers' in Bishops Stortford at the end of the month. Very professional on the phone, I get a Freelander as a courtesy car that we can both drive too. Anyone have any experience of their service dept ?

Thanks for reading, time for a nice glass of red. Gavin
