Scotland 2012 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black
Fuel Rail/System pressure too high: fault code P0088-17 (6C)

Hi All
Can anyone shed any light on this restricted performance fault? I’ve had it appear a couple of times recently which I can ‘clear’ using the GAP IID tool but I’d like to understand the fault now as its happened a couple times… it always seems to be on start-up but not a cold start, after a period of running.

Full fault reads as:
P0088-17 (6C) Fuel rail/system pressure - too high - General electrical failure - circuit voltage above threshold.

Refer to LTB01083 regarding replacing a section of wiring harness to the sensor with the repair kit 108438 plus 3 crimp joiners.

Thanks Graeme, I’ve managed to get a PDF copy of the bulletin.
Can anyone help with what I do to order/buy the kit to complete this repair?? Cheers, Steven.

The parts should be available from a LR dealer noting that the crimp sleeves requires a tool.

I believe this is the bosch part number for the plug (1928403966) stick it in ebay etc and you can buy it bare or with tails etc.

I'd always solder rather than crimp

LR108438 harness repair = £30 ish

save £20+ and put it towards some fuel Very Happy

It's on my to do list, happened a few times in last 6 months....also had the stalling at junctions as mentioned in the tech bulletin Current

If soldering then the join has to be supported past the spots to where the solder has migrated along the wires to prevent flexing at the ends of the solder which would otherwise break from movement.

@grayst01 - did you get this resolved? If so what was the fix?

I have the same error, also on start up. I can clear it with GAP tool and the car drives fine.

I've spliced in the new fuel pressure sensor wiring harness using heat shrink solder connections.

I actually haven’t done anything with it. It didn’t occur again after those first few times - I did look out the part as per the eBay item and saved it for future reference but hasn’t been an issue again since. Sorry… Shocked Cheers, Steven.

Lucky you! Thanks for your reply though. I think I caused the issue when I broke the fuel pressure sensor when I replaced the oil cooler and thermostat housing. I have since bought two genuine bosch fuel pressure sensors in the hope that the first replacement was faulty. Car is booked in with Venture 4x4 for diagnosis Jan 5th 24!
