Third row seats retrofit L405

Hi All,

I would be ever so greatful for your knowledge and advice on a peculiar issue I face. I have seen quite a few examples of this done on L322’s but do not fancy the rear facing arrangement due to carsickness issues.

Would you know if seats, D-pillar belt and cover from L494 Sport or Discovery 5 or discovery sport can be retrofitted in to a 2013 - 2018 L405?

What is needed apart from the obvious seats, bolts under-carpets, remaining boot space cover C-Pillar covers, seat belt with pretensioner (winding mechanism). Anything else I may have missed.

Any retrofitting instructions guidance, steps and procedures to pay attention to / follow

Of course some might say safety electronics.. I would however need this for only a few short distance local trips for one adult in the third row.

Any advice and guidance you may have will really help.

This is quite urgent as my passengers arrive this Sunday.

to my knowledge no one has done that conversion here on the forum..

i can see many problems like how does someone get into the back..yes the seat tips forward but its still an effort to climb in.
lack of height would also be a problem.

if you do the conversion please let us know how you got on. ... - .- -.

Thank you Stan & Craig! I do appreciate the quick replys.

Would Anyone know the sizing of the seats and frame that holds them

There is a seat set from an LR3 on flea bay with a electronics. Switches carpets, seatbelts /w pretentionsers going for about £300.00

I was hoping that if someone knows what the dimensions are, I could try and do a calculated hack.

Dont want to buy them if they are not going to work at all, thanks

Best regards

Imagine what might happen in a case of a collision?
Third row seating is usually crash tested no?

Exactly! At least the old Overfinch 6/7th seat that we’re CE marked and certified for use with that model!

So, can you check if there is like an IVA test? I’m guessing that would give piece of mind to both user & insurance company… JLR use IVA tests a lot for prototype vehicles… 👍

As above, rent a vehicle with more seats.

Anything is possible with time, skill and money. However, I predict, as have others, that you’ll have serious insurance grief and the conversion will require bodywork modification that will affect the resale value.

That’s assuming that you can find someone to do in time anyway.

Thumbs Up
