Deployable Towbar

I can see why some call this “deplorable towbar” mine stows fine but is reluctant to deploy (come back out) I always get it out but often it requires a couple of resets. I have taken to leaving it deployed but is there any preventative maintenance that I can do ? Geoff

Short of taking the whole thing out and lubricating anything and everything you can see, i don't think there is any preventive maitenance you can do.

What i found with mine was the electrics bracket which is supposed to come down as the bar extends gets stuck due to crud on the pivot/spring, so a liberal soaking in your favourite lube/anti-sieze spray does help.

The load on the tow bar trying to push the electrics out of the way seems to be enough to stop the retraction from completing.

Maybe that's a sign of tired motors? Big Cry
