I'm not sure I'd be looking at dedicated installers.
My recent experience of installers of automotive electronics (alarms/immobilisers) has been disappointing.
It's an area of industry which appears not to attract those of a disposition such that you'd have confidence in their working on your pride and joy.

You need someone with relevant LR experience who can get into the dashboard and reassemble it afterwards without breaking anything.
Seeking out a local LR indy is probably your best bet.

If you cannot find one of those prepared to take it on, then Unique Auto Developments claim to have "trusted installers". Perhaps an indy might be persuaded to deal with the interior trim, leaving the UAD installer just to handle the electronics.

Googling "land rover specialist aberdeen" will get you a few hits.

Jumping onto the back of this.
I might see if they are willing to do something to the trade.

We can do an actual group buy order and install at our premise (Kent) or mobile if required.

I would be very interested in this. I live in Kent and was thinking of self install but would gladly pay a third party in the know to do it

For anyone interested, Sam at Sam's Motor & Machine has had better luck than I in securing a discount code from Unique Auto Developments in respect of their CarPlay / Android Auto product offering for the L322.

Sam has posted details as a You Tube "Community Post", a platform feature that as far as I can tell does not support direct sharing, eg. in the way that You Tube videos do. So I am unable to post a link.

The discount code "SAMSMOTORS" entered on the checkout page of UAD's website will entitle the purchaser to a reduction of £35 against the retail price.
This code will be good until January 1st.

To review Sam's post, search You Tube for Sam's Motor & Machine and select "Community" from the banner at the top of the screen. Note that You Tube does not yet support this feature for all recent mobile devices. If in doubt, an MS Windows PC or Apple Mac should be fine.

United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Tonga Green

For those wanting a very simple solution (and perhaps those with 2010+ models) there’s this

https://www.backroadhero.com/product/unive...roid-auto/ Tym
(current) L322 3.6 TDV8 Vogue 2008 Tonga Green
(previous) L322 4.4 LPG Vogue SE 2003

If it sticks, force it. If it breaks, it needs replacing anyway.

Mmm yes, the BRH solution does look very good.
Certainly very hard to beat for the price.

Hi, I am quite interested in this. It seems a good solution without having to pull everything apart.
A couple of questions; Can you still stream through a inveray/ Bovee using the unit’s music controls? It looks as though you can.
Also, has anyone hardwired the power to get rid of the trailing wire to the lighter socket?

Any downsides?

Thanks

United States 2012 Range Rover Supercharged Supercharged Santorini Black

Just had it installed a few days ago on my 2012 Supercharged. So far, extremely happy with it. I had started to install it myself, but by the time I got to removing the vents I realized:

1. I didn't have enough time to finish the job
2. I didn't want to scratch up the interior of the car

So I put the car back together and found a local auto sound shop who was happy to do it for me. This ended up being the right call. They did an amazing job, and I had them install the USB outlet in the center console under the arm rest, next to the original iPod and USB outlet.

The audio folks ended up taking about 8 hours to do the install, and they had to disassemble the dash twice since it wasn't working correctly at first.

When I purchased it I also purchased the "Unique IDCore USB flash drive" for software update. I can tell you don't bother, there's nothing on it and you don't need it.

So far, very happy with the purchase. AirPlay works wirelessly when I get in the car, and still have access to all the other features. You have to remember to go back to "Aux" audio sometimes if you're using other sources, but is an extremely well integrated system.

That sounds very good.
Your local firm obviously did a good job. I would be worried about a mess up with the trim or similar so would probably tackle it myself.
Do you find the music quality ok through the aux? I use an Inveray Bluetooth thingy in the iPod socket and find the quality good. Do you play music through the new screen by Bluetooth or connect via usb?
Thanks for the write up.

Is anybody using the cheaper additional screen from “backroad hero”? Good functionality and music quality?

Cheers

I wanted to use it for a while before I answered. I’ve found the sound quality to be equal to any of the other sound options (DVD/CD/iPOD/Radio). It’s just another input. Sound seems to be excellent.

I’ve used both Wi-Fi and USB connections and can’t see a difference. It took a little getting used to, with having to occasionally remember to go back to the “aux” input after using the radio, but after the first few times you remember which settings to choose.

The Bluetooth phone setting is one to watch, since after installation you have two choices. The standard setting and the option to use Bluetooth to the device. I’ve been using both and can’t tell a difference.

Thank you for the review.
It does sound a very good bit of kit. Good to hear that the music quality is as good as before. I think the aux Bluetooth mode sounds as good as the Inveray/Bovee. I have been comparing them.
I very probably will go for the Naviplus eventually. In the meantime I have ordered a dash top unit direct from Ali Express for a good price. I will see how that goes but I do like the OEM look.
The Roadtop unit thatI have bought will be transferable between different cars which is good but it remains to be seen if it’s any good!
