If you can leave it draining for a good few days you can get much more than the 3 litres your managing to get currently.....

If you can raise the front of the car by a decent angle, you should get a fair bit out, probably 5 litres or so. If you have the 34 litres of sacrificial oil, personally I'd use most or all of it before dropping the sump & filter. I put 20 litres through mine (6 speed) and it still had a 'burnt' tinge to it, but the 'quality' felt a lot better - not as watery and more slippy between the gloved fingers, I'm sure you know this - do the level check with the engine running and the car as near level as you can get, temperature isn't too important on a flush but needs to be within the specified range for the final oil & filter change. When I did mine, I ran it for two days before the final level check, It may have made a difference.

If you do it all because you assume that it will cure that vibration, you will be disappointed. I don’t know how it was when these 3.0/4.4 were new but I have not driven one that doesn’t make this vibration/judder kind of thing if the wheels are not straight and push it bit more. Next moment it is gone.

Re-awakening this thread.

Next up (and currently the end of my to do list) is my gearbox service.

On my 3.6 ZF 6HP26 I used Mannol AG55 with no issue.

I'm now considering which fluid to use for my 4.4 TDV8 8HP70. There is a choice of Mannol AG60, Smith & Allan Lifeguard 8 (both around the same price and both brands i've had good experience with before) or of course genuine ZF Lifeguard 8.

The cheapest genuine ZF kit I've found is £200.

For a ZF filter & Mannol/Smith&Allan fluid combination, £130.

I’ve recently had my gearbox serviced using genuine ZF filter with Smith & Allan oil. 3 months on no issues at all. Certainly everything feeling smooth as it should. Did have my local indy (Prestige in Paisley) carry out the service but they had no issues with either. Thumbs Up Cheers, Steven.
