Traction Reduced Message on Start Up (almost every time)

Any thoughts/help?

2020 4.4 diesel FFRR

Had it 2 months - last 48 hours when I start it I get a Reduced Traction warning on starting the engine.
Everything seems fine when driving..

Im awaiting a call back from my local dealer but im keen to know the groups thoughts? is this going to be a software issue? is it well known? ive done some googling and cant find anything recent for a FFRR.

Like Stan says, every time I've had this on my L322 it was due to the battery voltage dipping when starting the car.

Might be worth getting your car on a C-Tek or similar smart charger to ensure the battery is at full charge to see if it cures the issue.

thanks - im now booked in at my local dealer but not till next week!
im planning a big trip up to Scotland in 10 days for 5 days - so im a bit panicky this is something critical... dont want to break down in the highlands or islands...
if its battery thats ok.. however ive found an old Freelander report it was a defective rear diff!!

It can be motor failure on the rear ediff, but the car can still be used, need the codes read tbh as dodgy wheel speed sensor can also be the issue.

If your car is only 2 years old, give Land Rover assistance a call and ask them to come out. They'll come to you rather then you having to wait until your dealer is able to see you.

Explain that you're concerned you might be doing damage and that you have a trip to Scotland planned.

Code reading is the first step of diagnosing anything these days so they will be carrying proper diagnostics.

Fingers crossed it’s something as simple as a weak battery for you.

ok so update.

LRA came an hour perfectly on time - love their system
lovely chap Steve - as you say laptop code reader that as far as I could see over his shoulder was top of the line - appeared to check all my firmware was up to date - which is good to know..

problem appears to be the motor to the e-diff - so well done dingg1

Steve then proceeded to mess around under the car for 20 mins - came back up saying he felt ?the sensor was loose - and then tested the car for another 30 mins.... and so far no more warning light.

ive taken it for an hours drive - to drop off my daughter and it seems ok.... so hopefully.... thats it..

my question now is do I ask the Dealer to look at the e-diff anyway - or has Steve fixed it?

If it doesn't alarm anymore then you can consider it fixed, you can still drive if the ediff motor is not working anyway, enjoy Thumbs Up
