Poor radio reception - help please

Hi Folks
sorry to pollute the forum with another radio problem but I've scoured this (and other) forums and checked all the connections to the various aerials and amplifiers to no avail... This relates to a 2002 Vogue.

The problem: the radio works but only just. It will not find radio stations on self-seek. When I manually tune into a local (ie: strong) radio signal I get some reception but the station name will not display on the MFD, only the wavelength. I cannot tune at all into most stations.

What I've checked: I've checked the connections to the radio amp below the side window and the amp in the tailgate - all good. With the radio on I've unplugged both amps individually and the reception deteriorates markedly, which suggests to me that the amps are working. BTW the television works perfectly, as does the NAV. The traffic program/RDS also seems to work as well.

Any ideas what the issue is and what to do next?
Many thanks for any help.

best regards
RRG

i would say its your radio unit..may be some one on the forum may have a spare one that you could borrow to try, this would rule out that unit. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

have you had your windows tinted? when i had mine done the tinter said i needed carbon film as the normal film has metal in it [?] and can affect the radio etc.

if its not that , then connections need checking or the radio tuner is knackered...

Car has factory privacy glass so I don't think that's the issue...

Odd. I've played around with all the connections to aerials and amps and reception is definitely a bit better. Radio station name is now showing up on the screen and it will self-seek onto a few channels. But it's definitely not properly sorted, quite a lot of extraneous noise remains and the radio's ability to hold onto a station seems weak.

Wish I could find a complete cure for this. Didn't realise how much I like listening to the radio!
