Kayak Trip

I was told of another great free camping spot along a river, deep in a forest about 250ks south of home so had to get the Kayaks out and head off for a few days. As usual, the camping was peaceful with plenty of firewood to be had from the woods. Looking down from my drone it was quite a strange area, virgin forest to 3 sides, a pine plantation to the other with a flat cleared area where I set up camp on the banks of the river. I can only presume it was a long-forgotten farmed area as from above it looked to have plough lines. A bit of fishing yielded some decent redfin perch and kayaking aching arms. The track I took in was quite muddy with some heavy ruts and cutouts however my well-worn tyres dragged the trailer through. I took an easier route out.

Basket! I haven't been camping since before COVID. I was telling my wife I need a week away camping - then you pop up with this! Basket!

We won’t talk about that! The river broke its banks near me a few months back but it probably needed another couple of metres to cause worry.

Maybe we should move back to Carnarvon where we lived on top of Brown Range. Smile Ron B. VK2OTC
