Germany 2019 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Montalcino Red
L405 Jack Pad

Hello
While working on my RR I needed to jack it up. I looked for jacking pads but found none for the L405. I saw both rubber ones and ones in Aluminium.

So I have done some CAD to design one. A friend is 3D printing one for me to test fit.
I have started to get quote to get one CNCed in Aluminium. Later on, a second one could be created to go on top of a bottle jack.

My question is are people interested in doing a group buy as that will bring down the cost? €20+p&p

I will post photos next week. SDV8 AB MY 2020

Here is the 3D printed version. I can start asking for quotes for Aluminium CNC one.
It fits the jacking point with very little play.

So the more that are ordered the cheaper they are. Is there anyone interested? SDV8 AB MY 2020

What problem does this fix ?

Is it for a trolley jack ?

I've not experienced any issues with just jacking mine up using a trolley jack, though mine does have deployable steps, so the jacking point is lower.

Not fix an issue as such. Like all jacking pads, it protects the jacking point from the top of the trolley jack and provides a better contact area. There have been a few threads asking about L405 jacking adapters/pads. So I assumed others like me could be interested.

I am also looking at bottle jacks for the car and I would try to create another version which can be fixed/attached to the top. Once I find a bottle jack I like and the size that works.

On the jacking point:

It also fits on the normal jacking point. SDV8 AB MY 2020

@Luxmoggy:

I’d be interested in a couple of these, but I’d prefer to see that central cross-piece removed, and two triangular butresses outside of the central groove.
As is, the jacking point sits atop the cross-piece, so all the force is on one point, instead of being supported along the full length of the groove.

Hope you don’t mind me, just my constructive thoughts…….. Mr. Green “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

The central cross piece is for location only. It is short enough so that it doesn’t do supporting.

For the outer walls they are the same as lots of other designs - if fact I made them thicker. But I will about the extra support. SDV8 AB MY 2020

Hmm, something I hadn't realised I needed, so I'll have one Laughing

I'm more interested in a bottle jack though as I've not found one yet, although I haven't looked that hard....

Would the sprinter jack not do the job?
They are a common jack used on the L322

Sprinter jack is too tall - at least it is if you have deployable steps fitted, Im not sure about without.

With deployables, the jacking point is part of the step and lower down, so you'd need quite a short bottle jack, but with a high lift, which is a lot to ask.

I think I tried, but can't remember. It's fairly low in standard mode though -

I can't recall how much extra height off road mode provides.

It would need to be at least a 3 section jack to get high enough

@Luxmoggy:

My bad about the cross-piece very sorry, I’ve just seen Alistairs pic and had completely forgotten about the notch in the vehicle jacking point, which it no doubt fits neatly into, so no issue at all Embarassed Very Happy Thumbs Up “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Did You get these cnc machined? I got a cnc mill so I could look into it. I want them for myself so I will make a set for my own use at least. But is it a good idea with aluminum? Won’t it damage the paint on the jack pads so it can start corroding?
