285 50 20 tyres

Hi guys. I'm currently running 255/55/20 on my 02 l322, I need new tyres and have been offered some 285/50/20, my question is if I fit these will there be any rubbing or other adverse effects?

Very little difference in the height of the tyres (5mm), but a full 30mm wider with the 285's.

Providing the wheels can cope with the width, I suspect there won't be any rubbing issues. Just turn the wheels to full lock and see if there's 15mm left to spare! Wink

Won't affect the speedo either. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

I have this size on my L405, they fit fine but they are a lot bigger in width and height. Ignore the generic on line calculators as they are not representative of actual true sizes and only give a very rough indication - I also have a set of 22” Turbines and a set of New Cooper 285/50/20 AT’s are 10mm dia more than standard fit Continental 275/40/22. These are accurate sizes measured side by side with a straight edge / level from ground level and are accurate measurements.

No issues at all with rubbing 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Note that the L405's standard tyre diamater is 31" whereas the L322's is 30" so fitting comparison between the 2 vehicles isn't valid.

I am going thru a similar process at the moment. I have 22inch turbines with Continentals Cross 275/40/20 Cross Contact XL's on currently. Intend to keep these.

I have just secured some 2nd hand 20inch LR alloys off a 2015 RRS and intend to fit some AT's. After trawling thru the forums and looking at pictures I think my sizing preference is 285/50/20. My only question is will these fit on an 8.5J rim? From what I can see I think (?) these should fit in the spare wheel well.

Any knowledge on this appreciated. 2017 L405 Vogue SDV8 AB

Landed on the 285 50 20 Falken Wildpeaks. Here is what the comparison is to the 22 inch rims with the 275 40 22 Contis on the factory turbines. Early days but happy so far. Just got to find a spare Very Happy

My 07 SC came with 285/35R22 and there was plenty of clearance.
I'm now running 275/45R20s. ---------------------------------
