Thanks guys, vehicle is in at repair center, just waiting on assessor to go check if he agrees with the repairer’s estimate then it is a matter of waiting on parts - living in sunny South Africa does from time to time mean that parts availability is not always immediate.

But we are holding thumbs that LRSA does have all the parts available - repairer is one of the 2 LRSA approved repairers in Pretoria

It is about 14 months since we got the RRSVAB which had 12341kms when we got it in November 2023 - fast forward to today and it is now at 41361kms. This was mostly long distance trips between Pretoria and Cape Town, Cape Town and George, and 2 trips between Pretoria and George with a quick excursion from George to St Helena Bay and back before returning to Pretoria.

Lots have happened since including an accident when a guy in a Ford Figo drove into the RR resulting in about R600k’s damage to the RR, vehicle had a service, replaced tyres (RR came with run flats which resulted in much harsher ride than it supposed to have) and then lost 2 of the new tyres on a gravel road in the Graaff-Reinet area.

Negatives / regrets to date in owning the RR - ABSOLUTELY NONE

Positives - MANY. The effortless and comfortable way in which the loosened up engine (now with about 455kW and 740Nm) eats up the miles is just astonishing. Adding to this is Jekyll and Hyde nature of the car - one moment luxury cruiser next moment low flying jet - this whilst the car massages you and, depending on the season, either cools or warms your backside and back.

Just over 3 months since my last post.. and we are still enjoying the Blue Express. Still amazed at the comfort of this vehicle.

We did about 8000 kilometres since the last update in January; most of which was done on a recent trip to George and back a few weeks ago.

It feels as if the engine is only loosening up now and is performing better both power and fuel economy wise. Although I refuse to monitor fuel consumption, I found it was rather frugal - if one can ever call a SC V8 petrol frugal - on the trip down between Pretoria and Bloemfontein as we got tank-to-tank (both filled to first click) 8.45km/l whilst still driving at quite a brisk pace.
