RR ‘02 air suspension is going down after replacing bags

Hi all,

I’ve replaced the two air suspension bags on the back because after a few days the car dropped left. Now it stays levelled but is still drops after 1-2 days. Does anybody know what to check next to figure out what is causing it? I hope someone had the same issue and solved it…

Thanks!!

Menno

Put it up to off road height, get a spray bottle with soapy water in and spray the airbags and lines back to the valve block... you should see where it leaks, if nothing, move the suspension to normal and access and try again.

If it's quiet you can often hear the leak...

Good luck... Thumbs Up Pete

Thanks!

I did spray the valveblock already. I can't reach all the lines, but I will listen to it on a quiet sunday morning. Very Happy
The bags are brand new so they won't have a leak I guess.

Don't presume anything, new parts can be faulty or the bag seats aren't clean, they tend to get a ridge of road dirt that sets like concrete and can cause a leak... Thumbs Up Pete

It's usually a leak, and happening after work gives a bit of a clue BUT, if it's sitting and keeps levelling until it drops that may indicate an issue, you can rule that out by pulling the air suspension fuse but I can't remember which one it is, you could just disconnect the battery for a couple of days to see if it drops... Thumbs Up Pete

Are you certain you pushed the airlines fully into the new bags?

Well I thought I did… Confused I pushed until it didn’t go any further but I didn’t used a lot of force. Do you have to use a lot of force?

No you don’t need a lot of force but you should feel a definite stop.

For the airlines, I usually depress the collet, push the tube in, ( sometimes it can be a tight fit ) let the collet spring back up ( or pull it up )then try to pull the pipe to see if it is tight, it could also be a little bit of damage to the end of the plastic tube when it was removed that could cause a leak, when I did my fronts, I trimmed a little bit ( About 10mm ) off the ends of the pipes to get a good fit /seal.

That is IF you have push fittings on yours, as opposed to the olive ring and screwed fittings ?
