Hi,
I have a 2008 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2L. The weather has recently fallen into the 20’s (F) at night. For the last few days, at cold startup for a minute or two it makes an odd whining noise at cold startup. The oil level is good. The tensioners, belts, and pulleys are all only a few months old.

I’ve posted a video on youtube to help diagnose. Any help would be appreciated.

Mine sounds like that, having used a stethoscope I think it’s the alternator. Mine does it all the time and is engine speed related.

Thank You for the response. This only happens for one or two minutes after startup. I replaced the alternator with a brand new original Denso unit about 4 months ago. (Not reman)

Another vote for alternator here, mine did the same when it was on its last legs, get some wd40 pointed in the general direction and give it a good dosing...

I was tempted to do that, but was worried it may get blow it up……
