Shocked L322 owner looking forward

Morning folks, suppose I've been hoking about this forum for a year now and never posted, nice to see an active forum with plenty of helpful members!
So anyhow I've been a car guy pretty much my whole life, got an idea of buying a old bmw to turn into a drift car hence the need for a towing machine, had a farmer friend with a l322 he was planning on selling and was happy to give to me for the day..
Well that was it, 40 mile later I was smittin! Couldn't believe what I'd been missing out on, his however had a slight niggle in the gearbox so the hunt started, I'm from N.I so flew over to England and picked up a 07 Vogue se with what I thought was a decent spec especially for the money. Apart from doing egr delete which I choose after reading on here and some tensioner went it's been smooth driving for the 7k miles I've done.
Now I feel like an upgrade, I would like to get into a l405. Never have driven one though, I'm just guessing they are going to be better.. my 07 had 154 when bought so big miles don't really bother me, I've a touch over 20g to spend and just having a good look atm.
Suppose after all this my question is do I try go for a 13-14 with 100 to 120k or is 15-16 with 130 to 140k as good a bet?
Thanks Smile

I hear the 405 is a great car, but that many that have owned both still feel the L322 is the proper Range Rover of the two, a little more utilitarian and tank like, as per its heritage.

Best to test drive the newer one and see what you think. I ended up getting a 2011 4.4 TDV8 AB last of the line L322s and love it. So much more refined than my 2004 TD6. Tom

For your budget you will get a good low mile late TDV8 4.4 L322. I'd not buy an L405 for that money unless I had a lot in reserve for repairs. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

From what I read and gather it does seem to be the proper last rr, I have considered going for a face-lift ab l322 and not ruled out but they are pretty expensive, all mostly still above 100k miles and not sure I want to spend so much for the same shape jeep. I don't plan to be doing any off road trips or such, just the odd bit of towing and more just the luxury drive.
I only plan to do 6 to 8k miles a year, and don't mind general maintenance bills, I've spent the last 15 years modifying cars.
I see lots on the max miles post with way more than 150k miles, but if yous guys all really think its a bad idea buying a l405 with 100 to 140k miles I might have to reconsider, I just think in the right colour they look so good!

Well, if you buy a higher mile L322 or L405, it will eventually become normal miles if you don’t do that many miles each year. I’ve done less than 3k a year since Covid hit…. In fact I’ve only done about 15k in 6 years.

You need to drive them both mate. I love my 4.4 TDV8, came from a TD6….

It’s not a bad idea getting an L405 at all but your budget is a bit too low I think. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I appreciate the honesty, I think I may have to take one a test drive to see if it's going to be worth the stretch, when I say alittle over 20 I probably have 25 and hoping with the way fuel prices etc are the odd one might just come up for good money. Thanks
