Does anyone know this L405?

It’s a 4.4 vogue SE I’m looking to buy at Vertu in Leeds.

Anyone own it before or have dealings with Vertu?

Hi Adam, I Don’t know the vehicle but I purchased my L405 from Vurtu Leeds (Farnells until fairly recently) the sales experience was good and after sales have been ok too but they are a high volume dealer in an area where they don’t have to try very hard. This means the usual frustrations will apply, You will 100% know more about every vehicle in the dealership than them, questions will be limited to what the computer says and you will get the same treatment if you were buying a 10 year old Freelander. Other than that they are ok

I have dealt with Vertu Mercedes in Reading recently and their aftersales was very poor, I got their CEO Robert involved and he sorted it out very promptly. Apparently they are struggling for decent staff in most dealerships.

I'm just buying a VW Polo from one of their dealerships up North and the service has been ok, they have sophisticated paperwork systems that seem to make the job harder.

The CEO was on the Undercover Boss program,

And it's a buyers market no one wants a guzzler so let them know that!! knock at least 10% off and haggle-tell them you are torn between this and another seen elsewhere

Interesting it's not a local car even with lots of them being black with black pack around here. Thats a Glasgow area numberplate I think ? I would want a LR warranty that you can use locally without having to revisit Leeds if you have any issues. Good luck with your decision  2021 P400 Silicon Silver AB

Is this actually necessary from a JLR Main Dealer these days? They wouldn't buy one in that was dodgy?

I bought mine from a JLR dealer, glad I had done above, as there was an error with the mileage highlighted by the AA check. many thousands out someone had inputed wrong mileage at a routine service. This created an alert of potential clocking.
It was only resolved by dealer sending all the service history and MOT mileage etc to the relevant authority, this was agreed to be done before I bought the car, it was my condition of purchase.

i could imagine the delays and excuses if I went to them months after purchase etc etc. It's only pennies in the big scheme of things.

Scotland = saltier roads than some other areas, maybe worth a good check underneath for corrosion?

Whilst I understand that fact about saltier roads etc, we don’t get really. Harsh long winters of salty roads and the car is only 4 years old so I’m not too concerned about corrosion. Discovery 4 HSE

It's surprising how much of a picture you can put together once you've got a data check done, looked at the online service history and MOT history.

I can piece together when ownership changed, milage covered, where it was serviced, official mileage figures etc.

The mileage discrepancy on the HPI report is because the private plate the last owner had, is now on a RRS, and the MOT mileage for that vehicle has somehow been logged on this car. So, nothing dodgy, just admin error.

What I don't yet know the answer to is why the Dealership seems to have had this car for a year and its only done 242 miles in 12 months.

There was a For Sale plate in the boot with a much higher sale price, it could just be a very slow mover on the forecourt and they wanted too much. Discovery 4 HSE
