Germany 2019 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Montalcino Red

Oil change done. I will post a couple of photos later. I extracted 10l if the marking are to be believed.

I have added 9l and have checked the level. One mark below the top. So I am thinking of adding the other 400ml now. Then go for a drive.

But first a cup of tea. SDV8 AB MY 2020

One issue was getting the top off the pipe to suck the oil out. I didn't want to come off. I think I will buy a new one. It rotated off the bayonet fitting to come up about 1 cm, then would twist with pliers but not pull off. This was the longest part of the whole process.

My €12 solution to level the car:


The extractor is connected to the car, next time I will get a different and longer pipe. I could feel that it sucked more when using the compressor and not the hand pump.

All finished


1. Warmed the oil to 40-50C
2. Turned off the car
3. loosened the filter 3 turns
4. waited 10 minutes, then removed the filter
5. turned the extractor on - it was quick and it really got the out last drop.
6. Fitted filter - remembering to oil the rubber seal
7. Filled 9L into the car
8. After 15 minutes, I checked the oil level - as you can see one mark down
9. Went for a drive
10. After 15 minutes, I checked the oil level - still down one mark
11. added the 400ml

A few drops of oil got onto the driveway when I disconnected the pipe from the car and it sprang from my hand.
A very easy job to do.

So the end of the filter looked a bit different. the one that come off the car was flat but the new one has a raised bit. It still clicked into place. I assume that it is ok. SDV8 AB MY 2020

The oil that I took out did seem thinner than the oil going in.
5.565 Dilution Factor of that oil. SDV8 AB MY 2020
