L405 VSE/AB pre purchase research

https://www.fullfatrr.com/gallery/albums/u....39.54.png

I am intent on replacing my current XC90 with an L405 VSE or AB (MY16 or newer). The XC90 is on a personal lease and goes back in the early summer after 3 years. replacing it with another makes zero sense financially as the lease costs have risen by about 50%. So, L405 it is, having owned a 64 plate 4.4SDV8 back in 2015, we know they are the best luxury SUV.

I have started some initial research. I will be buying at the £30-£50k price point 2016-2018 age. Would love a newer facelift, but they come with a price premium. It has to be a 4.4 SDV8 and I am not averse to buying privately.

Can I ask what the consensus is on well serviced higher miles SDV8? This one (VSE) looks ok, but what would I be letting myself in for? £30k seem like a reasonable price

This one (AB) is also private sale, and reasonable miles (56k), I assume I could get it inspected at a Land Rover MD and then get either LR extended warranty, or other third party warranty? £35K seem good value for a 66 plate, and I would be in a position to get it properly serviced/brakes/gearbox diff oil etc - at a main dealer, if it needed it. I am not on a shoe string budget in terms of maintenance.

Or do I just go all out for a facelift at £50k

Any advice and pointers appreciated.

Did you notice that the last one (2018 facelift) is a 3.0 TDV6?

There's a 2016 model one for sale in the ads on here as well, looks very nice but mileage for you?

I’d go all out for a facelift, worth the extra imho.

I think mine is worth c£56-57k as a trade in, might be open to a sensible offer! MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Yes sorry, you are right, that's a 3.0 SDV6. There is another one, same price, 10k more miles, in Bryon Blue which is a SDV8. 2019 SDV8 Autobiography in Byron Blue

Its probably a bit too soon at the mo, but what the details of yours? Miles? Colour? Alloys?

I have decided I really like the Bryon Blue, dont want black wheels, and i really like the 22" alloys, Turbines or the 5004? 2019 SDV8 Autobiography in Byron Blue

If you find an early 2018 Facelift, make absolutely sure the infotainment system and InControl work perfectly.

I had a brand new 2018 facelift and had two years of problems before JLR bit the bullet and put the latest 2020 version in and all was well after that.

As for the 3.0 TDV6 I have never had any problems with that engine. Thumbs Up All LR cars from 1984

It’s a little bit too soon for me to think about changing as there’s a lot going on, but I think I’ll be seriously looking in April /May.

It’s Byron blue with 22” 5004 wheels and silver trim, I had the same requirement as you. Other than that, it’s a Dec 2018 reg (MY19) with 45k miles, full service history and extended warranty. I’ve had it since it was 12 months old and have done nearly 35k miles in it. I don’t want to tempt fate….but it’s been completely trouble free!

Thank you!

Almost exactly the same as mine on the outside, interesting that it has black door mirrors.

It's all black inside, which I'm happy with and the most important thing was to get a trim I like and I'm not keen on the light headlining. I don't think I could have bought one with the std (satin walnut?) trim in the AB, mine has Black Burr Ash which was a £385 option and is really nice. It's also got a fridge, cabin air ionisation, solar attenuating windscreen and CD/DVD player. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Pre purchase research going so well that i put down a deposit on a Byron Blue SDV8 AB today. It was at a price that I just couldn’t refuse!

Please please tell me that car has a white interior, or make up something terrible!

I paid a fair chunk more for one a year older.

Fair play and health to enjoy. It looks awesome.
