Coming back to the fold

Very Happy Well, after a few years of non FFRR ownership I’m coming back.

Since my last L405 I’ve had a RRS AB 5.0SC, a new Defender 110 HSE D300 and a Discovery 5 HSE LUX.

On Monday I’ll be collecting my L405 Vogue SE 4.4SDV8 (2019 MY) and I’m once again genuinely excited as I’ve always loved Range Rovers since I was a kid.

This will be my 8th RR and my 16th Land Rover ( if memory serves me right).

I don’t have any photos yet so you’ll just have to imagine it Very Happy

It’s Santorini black and full black pack, ebony interior with Kalahari wood ( so glad not to be having yet another full black interior and piano black finish no doubt covered in scratches from not very careful owners)

It’s got some extras like tow bar, rear diff etc. Discovery 4 HSE

Nice to experience it. Even the HSE spec didn’t feel that special and a few things annoyed me;

Seats not adjustable enough, very flat
Stereo absolutely terrible
Terrible headlights at night
The boot space is small
For such a highly tested car it arrived brand new with trim loose, parts faulty
Gearbox shift issues couldn’t be fixed

So, I sold it back to another dealer and made 20% profit. Was happy to walk away Discovery 4 HSE

By way of cleaning up this thread, here’s a photo of the new one. Hasn’t been clean since the day I collected it but it is a lovely vehicle to drive.

Got the latest maps to upload over the weekend, data sim sorted, inControl and Secure Tracker all active. Very pleased.

This might be the first one I’ve had where I have no plans.

In the past I’ve always added mud flaps (then found them to be mostly pointless), seat covers (turns out we’re not that messy), All Terrain tyres (my mate in his D5 on 22” std tyres went everywhere I did with no issues), roof rails for the roof box and a dog guard so I can pack lots in the boot.

Unless we do a driving holiday again to Scotland etc perhaps the only thing I’d need to add is roof rails. I fitted them to my new Defender so can easily sort that.

I think I’ll just drive this! Discovery 4 HSE

Well, I’ve had it just over a month and love it so far.

Done a number of long journeys in it, most notably from Leics to the North Penines (less than 30 mins from Scottish border) and back for a days shooting plus some decent off roading too where the locking rear diff came in handy.

However, as you’d expect , because it’s all shiny and new to me it’s now got battle damage!

Dinged an alloy on some rocks while off roading and another L405’s door got blown open onto mine, causing a ding and a scratch (which I’ve 90% polished out)

Always seems to happen when you have a new pride and joy that Murphy’s Law steps in and damages it pretty soon after

It also is yet to get a wash!
