What Tyres

While getting the tyres changed over today , the tyre fitter told me that the best type of tyre for 4x4's are Bridgestone as they are made from a stronger compound , yet everyone swears by Conti's or Pirellies .

What are your preferences guys -- ROAD GOING TYRES -- NOT OFF ROAD --

Mick yes Bridgestone are great but due to the stronger tyre wall the Tyre Monkeys rip the internal bead and dont tell ya Whistle

Also Tyre stations will tell you the ones are best are also the ones they get a better rebate on Whistle

Used to be Kwik Fit Conti / ATS Mich and so on I dont care now caus I source my tyres elsewhere Thumbs Up

Have seen a set of Bridgestones do well over 50k miles. Mind you have also seen a set of Michelins on a RR classic do 70K miles - mostly motorway - think they were 244's 205 x 16 M&S

I would go for either Goodyear or Pirelli, they are reasonably priced, never had a problem with either and they are OEM which appeals to me more than anything. Michelin would be another good option but they tend to be more expensive.

Personally I prefer to stick to OEM tyres so would go on what my local tyre dealer has, or can order in at the right price and are OEM. If pushed I would probably go for GoodYear as the profile is slightly wider than any of the other tyres (even though the width designation is the same) which would give more protection to alloys...

all the Goodyear tyres I have measured width wise have been wider than equivalent manufacturers by about 15 to 20mm

I also try and stick to stock tyres, that way if you burst one and need a replacement, likely that someone is selling some cheap on ebay or your local place can get them ok.

Costco are pretty competitive too. Discovery 4 HSE
