I have done it again

Well, after saying I wasn't going to get another project- I have bought another project Whistle

I have agreed to take on a 1992 4.2 vogue lse and will be getting it on monday
Done almost 200k miles
Been off the road since 2014
Usual rrc rust
Air suspension on its a*se
No brakes (bust pipe under bonnet)
Electrics are a bit suspect
Engine runs like a bag of knackers
Headlining is almost touching the headrests

And that's what I saw in the 5 minute viewing

Good points-
From 10 ft back it looks OK
1 owner since December 1992 Shocked until it came off the road when he died
It's a 4.2 lse
It's got green carpets
The service history is amazing, even has original bookpack, launch brochure and original bill of sale (£42k Shocked ) as well as a pile of invoices from the past 30years totalling over £25k

Cant wait Rolling with laughter
Paul

did you part with more than a two or three grand ? so difficult to value now. Hard dash clearly should be more that softs but the prices are all over the place.

Look forward to the progress.

I assume the air bags are destined for the bin in favour of coils? 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

Top man, that’s going to be cracking, lots of love for an LSE. Will you keep it as factory as possible?

Thanks guys, it's going to be an ongoing project in between customers cars. Would like to keep the air suspension if possible but it may end up on coils in the meantime as a temporary thing. Want to get any welding done and get it mot'd asap so i can move it about if necessary and the rest can be done as a rolling project. Should be here on monday so can hopefully do a better assessment of what's needed

Well, it's arrived today and already sorted 2 jobs

Replaced blown brake pipe, then high pressure flexi from pump to modulator blew, replaced with a d2 brake hose and bled brakes. Now have brakes. Will be going through complete system eventually but at least I can move it around safely now

Sorted the poor running, cleaned up rotor arm, found and fixed a vacuum leak and disconnected dodgy cruise control linkage. Now ticks over at a sensible speed

Next job is to find out why the air suspension isn't working. Get the uo and down light flashing for approx 30seconds then permanently lit. Compressor not running, but runs fine when powered manually from battery??
Any ideas on this??

Do you have an EAS cable (with the old Lucas Rists connector)? If so, download the EAS software from the RSW Solutions site. Otherwise might be easier to find someone with Testbook or similar for reset/fault finding.

No, I am trying to get hold of one but failing at the moment Rolling Eyes RSW no longer do them. Have found the battery voltage isn't getting above 12.5v so maybe that could have something to do with it if there is a trigger voltage to get it working?? Paul

Dunno, checked the relay? I can lend you an EAS cable (if you promise not to lose it!)

Thanks for the offer Thumbs Up . I may take you up on that but I am going to see about getting all the parts together to make a lead of my own that way I can carry my own diagnostics in the car until I am happy its working as it should Whistle
Looking at the RSW website it looks like I will need-

5 way rists connector
Serial port connector
15K ohm resistor
Transistor
4 core cable

oh, and a cheap ebay laptop
