Question on wheel screws

Hi all,

After some searching I have found a nice high mileage 2012 4.4TD L322 here in Germany and bought it a few days ago. I want to change the 19” wheels that are currently on to 20” summer wheels that I purchased together with the car (will be running Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S).

My question is whether I can use the same screws from the 19” wheels for the 20” wheels? I was told that would work if both are OEM wheels, which I don’t know for sure. Here are pictures of the 19s (silver) and 20s (grey):

What can I do if the locking wheel nut adapter and the security card is missing? Can a dealer order these via VIN?

Many thanks for your help!

If the picture is your car the wheels are genuine 19in style 15 wheels dated from 2010 onwards.
Genuine wheels are stamped on the inside face with the Landrover part number.
No idea about the 20in wheels you wish to fit but if genuine landrover they will be individually stamped as above.
If your new wheels are genuine the existing wheel nuts will be ok, all wheel nuts from 2005 onwards are the same.

Great, that’s helpful. Do you also have a view regarding my locking wheel nut question?
Thanks

If the locking wheel nuts are genuine Land Rover a trip to a dealership would allow them to identify the tool required to undo them. If not genuine Land Rover you either need to buy a universal tool to undo them or visit a tyre fitting company who are usually quite experienced in removing such things without causing damage.
One you get them off l would be inclined to bin them and fit 5 normal nuts. Thumbs Up

Just to be sure: not only the nuts are the same, also the bolts/screws are the same length?

As above, the bolts will be good on both sets of wheels.

I’d also not fit locking wheel nuts. They rust and are then really hard to take off. Put them in the bin.

Hi,

I was thinking of trying these, they're supposedly unique and machined in Stainless Steel. £50 but I'm not sure if that's for a single one or set of 4.

Anyone any experience of using these ?

Andy

It's a set of 4, I have 20 of these on MY11 car and they look superb, great little engineeing company on the South coast of England, they are 4 years old and still look great, very expensive though.

I fitted a set of these from Amazon recently. They are one piece finished chromed steel and are surprisingly good quality. How long the chrome finish will last l don’t know but the reviews are good. For £36 for 20 they are definitely worth a go.
Vastly superior to the original two piece landrover offerings.
Just to clarify, by one piece l mean a one piece nut and fitted washer- no separate stainless steel cap.
