Looking to come back, any advice please ?

I'm looking to buy a L322 again after a few years with a D3, I'm looking to spend up to about £10k, but ideally would like to keep a couple of £k back for any faults Whistle

Everything I look at seems to have bubbling rear arches, (my old TD6 never had this) Question is, did this ever improve, or does it go on to the last of the L322's ? Any rough idea of the cost of having them cut out and replaced ?

One last question - I've seen a couple of high mile 4.4's in my price range (150,000 ish) would I be foolish to buy at these miles, and better to stick with 3.6 ?

Thanks for any input Thumbs Up

Consensus seems to be that the later Tata era 2009-12 suffer the most, particularly the lower section of the upper tailgate, if not the arches (although they’re definitely still prone), the BMW era the least and the Ford era somewhere in the middle rust wise.

My experience based on quite a few bears this out. Jonathan

Buy a high miler as over 150k miles the prices drop off a cliff. Also at that mileage it's very likley a lot of the bits that fail will have been replaced and you may well have a much more sorted car than one that's done 100k and all the usual fail items are just about to fail. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I did think that maybe.. I bought my Disco at 160k, now approaching 180 and beside preventative maintenance and servicing, no problems really (did I really dare to just say that Whistle )

My twopennyworth on a plus 150k miler would be yes, go for it. As others have said, prices drop like a stone. I’ve run various cars up to 300k when I was chauffeuring, never had a mite of trouble. Providing she’s been serviced it could be a good buy. 2012 Orkney Grey Westminster 4.4TDV8 with Ivory interior.........nice!

The 4.4 TDV8 engine and 8speed gearbox are inherently very reliable and in normal use (not towing or offroading) are very under stressed and will go huge mileages without major issues. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
