So my old girl passed recently and we have a new bundle of joy

Previously no need for a guard as she never tried to get into the back seats and had a load space protector.

The bundle of joy (German Shorthaired Pointer) he tries each journey to get through the gap between headrest etc.
I Just want an upper mesh guard, but see they have struts which locate on the hooks on the boot floor, and they are not compatible with my load space cover.

So suggestions for a strong upper mesh guard (not JLR) thats creak proof and also boot protection that works with the struts as the load space protector will be removed.

I have looked at Gaurdsman and Travell etc but would love to hear opinions 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

Just in case you change your mind, there are a couple of full size LR dog guards (with ski hatch) on ebay just now. A good price if you want a full size. I found the genuine guards fitted well and very solid. Current MY2020

Based on my experience of GSHPs you might be better with a metal (not plastic) cage e.g. from Lintrans. Only Range Rovers since 1988

I’d also highly recommend a cage, we use two cars with the dog’s one has a liner and no cage and is a complete mess, you can’t put anything else in.

The RR has a Land Rover liner and a dog cage, the surrounding area is immaculate as the cage has hard sides so keeps all the grit and wet contained.

I use a 'Barjo' cage in my Rangey. Works a treat with 2 weimaraners and is removable when I need to store other stuff.

I've modified a couple of L319 dog gate / dividers, using the Guardsman separator behind the rear seats (no need for the tensioning rod as the divider holds it in place) with https://www.ukcustomcovers.com/sbv/land-rover-range-rover-vogue , seems to be working as expected, with a GSD & a Rhodesian Ridgeback trying their best to destroy / escape at every opportunity.

Thanks, she's a rescue/rehome - a bit skittish which we've never had with RR's before, as you say, great tracking dogs, the last one we had (also a rescue) followed a Muntjac for about three km's, which came as a bit of a surprise to the golfers when the pair of them tore across the course with me & Ruby the GSD in hot warm pursuit...
We've had one or more in the Family for over sixty years, I' be lost without 'em.

Anyway, back to the dog gate, the L319 divider needs a bit of modification, it's relatively easy if you take the mesh off first and make a cardboard template. Don't cut the lower rail at the gate end or the upright that holds the rail from the bottom, just bend on the existing radius to the correct angle, that way the gate will sit at the correct height and the side fixing bracket will match up with the lash-down eyes. I can take more photos if anyone is interested - obviously you don't need to have a gate on both sides.
