Transfer Case Surprise...

Well, the time has come to rebuild the transfer case. (I will put separate thread out with pictures)

However... there was a surprise inside...

certainly time to have a look at it, I assume it wasn't working too well.

I've posted thread about issues related to transmission some time ago:
https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic63387.html
I hope TC rebuild will solve the problems I had.
I'll post and update once I fit rebuilt unit.

Story progresses:

I brought second hand TC to get some parts from it, or make one good one out of the two.
From outside looked the same. Numbers on casings were the same on the bigger part. The smaller casing with ITC sign - one had number one not.
When opened the one I just brought, result is:
1. One casing has chain slider the other doesn't. Chain length is the same
2. Drive shaft in mine had shim(thick washer) on the purchased one two Bellville springs.

Are these different transfer cases? or just slight differences in their evolution through out years?
Is one better than the other?

No... but the damage of the centre differential is unrelated. I had another TC fitted.

Very interested to see the differences. I guess that, as the DD295 transfer box has been in production for nearly 20 years now, there will have been some changes/improvements made over the years. Can you see a Land Rover part number on the casings at all?
