A 4x4 is born

I just came accross this 15 episodes documentary on the net! I don't know if it has been posted before, but I hope not! It should be interesting!

Quote:
This series transforms an old rust-bucket Range Rover into the ultimate bolder-crawling beauty! The 1985 Range Rover is converted into a one off 100 inch wheelbase hybrid as a tribute to 25 special vehicles that Landrover built for the French and Swiss armies in the late seventies.

It's also being re shown on Discovery Turbo at the moment.

We saw the end result at a show, pictured here with Mrs RRUK, about 3 years ago at least now.

I could never work out why (if he was doing nearly everything from scratch) the 3.5 on carbs was left in...

Legally it is. Smile 100" chassis and most if not all the running gear is from the RR Classic donor vehicle.

In the eyes of the DVLA the actual body is 0% of the vehicles identity.

Legally, I don't think it is. Altered chassis etc. Hasn't got enough points to be a Range Rover.

True, but that's a whole new can of worms. Smile
Although with same engine and running gear it may have had enough points under the old system.

Fact is though, most people don't tell DVLA about minor mods, even to the chassis. Look at all the bobtailed Classics still wearing the original reg numbers. They'll have as many points as this does.

As I said, can of worms... Whistle

I've been looking for this for a while now and can only find it used at crazy prices!

Does anyone have any pointers to where I could buy a copy either as physical DVD or a download? I checked with Duke Video (the producers of the video and who sell the "An MG is Born" digitally) and they don't have it available in any format.

Or, anyone willing to sell their copy at a reasonable price?

Thanks!

You mean, "YouTube?" Yea, tried that and the second half is there but in low-res (lower than a DVD).
