Considering selling due to insurance

As other have noted, insurance is getting silly. I'm currently paying only £44 a month using a subscription based insurance called Cuvva. It seems pretty reasonable, I know, but it is also quite limiting as a policy: no additional named drivers, no modifications, no business use. I would like all of those things.

I have been shopping around regularly to try and find more conventional insurance but premiums are now £800-900 a year for the wife and I and the prices seems to be going up. That's just for a standard policy with no mods. To add mods, I'd need to go with A-Plan/Brentacre/Adrian Flux etc. A-Plan have refused to insure saying their brokers won't offer quotes on RRs anymore. Brentacre quoted me over £1500 and prospects with AF seem no more likely to result in a reasonable premium based on other posts on here.

I looked at prices for a Disco 3 V8 HSE that I've had my eye on, and the exact same £850+ price comparison site quote for my RR went down to £411. I'm also pretty confident that i could get modified vehicle insurance for the same car for a very reasonable price too.

I love my L322, I really do. I also don't mind paying the premium price to fix it when it breaks. However, with many insurers to even willing to insure for my desired usage, it's becoming increasingly less viable as a proposition. If this is going to be the yearly struggle just to find insurance for my needs at all, let alone at a reasonable price, my only conclusion is that the car needs to go and soon.

What are others' thoughts on this and which insurer do you use?
Who has a modified L322 and who is best to insure those vehicles? Andy

It's definitely becoming more of a problem across the LR models and has been mentioned across the sister LR forums. Here is today's

Apparently all insurance is going up to cover their costs, as electric cars are being written off after relatively minor incidents due to insurance companies/garages not wanting to risk putting previously damaged cars with possible hidden battery issues back on the road in case there's a fault and the car ends up in flames and any possible fatalities.

The thing that’s annoying me the most is the lack of willingness from specialist insurers that do modified vehicles to touch it. I really wanted to modify the vehicle for some overlanding and that’s a bit of a deal breaker for me unless I can find something more reasonably priced. As I’ve mentioned here and on another post, A-Plan was my go to as a forum sponsor, but they’re just not interested which kind of defeats the object of being linked with this community. Andy

JLR really need to a deal with a couple of insurance companies , as insurer of choice and offer their repair shops/dealers special prices for parts if it’s an insurance claim.
Do that or their business of making and selling cars is under threat… you might shrug if the company pays your bills, but there comes a point when the company cares. Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

I use a part-time motor trade policy, which allows me to drive any car, and have multiple vehicles and multiple drivers. If you buy and sell only a couple of cars a year (nobody checks though) they are useful. And it includes SDP, and other business/work use too.

You are usually limited on vehicle value, or more precisely, the amount they would shell out in the event of a loss. I actually use a third party only policy now as I'm happy to self-indemnify for theft. But they do comp too.

Here's who I use: https://www.tradex.com/ 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography in black

Surely that should only effect premiums for electric cars - if the car is a higher risk then that's supply & demand. It should not effect the premiums of ICE cars.

Problem with JLR vehicles will be the high number stolen presumably for transfer to foreign shores. Also given that they can’t get the parts to build new cars imagine the delays on repairing accident damaged ones and the resultant cost of courtesy cars etc.
A friends Disco has been in main dealers for 7 months with a coolant leak awaiting parts!
Another friend with a new Disco got third degree over where he kept his keys - said on his bedside table and they refused to reinsure. 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

I'd be quite happy if they asked loads of those types of questions if my answers brought the premium down as I have taken a few measures that currently aren't recognised First time FFRR owner
