perhaps the best way is to crawl underneath & see if you can see the motor ?

I presume it'll be at the bottom rather than this one shown at the top of the picture if it's upside-down.....?

If there's just a blank in place, then no

I thought cars fitted with the locking diff had a lock symbol on the 4x4 screen, that shows when its engaged.

Yeah, I have the lock symbol but can't seem to get it to engage, always shows as being open.

Does the box have to be in low-range to get it to engage? When I offroaded in the new TDV8 the offside screen had 2 padlocks. Had to really boot it in lowrange to get it to go orange and lock. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

I think it'll lock in any ratio, but you can't do it manually. If it looses traction then it should work it out for itself that it should engage the lock.........................but I could be wrong Embarassed

It's one of those things that you'll ever hardly use unless you're really hard off roading in awkward "wheels off the ground" terrain. I guess that's why it's an option.

there is a lock symbol for both diffs

The rear diff is very difficult to lock up, even in thick sand up a hill. You might want to try low range and rock crawl slowly on a loose surface making tight turns to make some slippage.

AFAIK if the symbol is there, you should have the e-diff

If its the same as a D4 then just as the symbol is there it doesn't mean it will lock...

Dont ask how i know Rolling Eyes

if you have a pre-facelift model did thye even have the option of rear locking diff or was it not available then??
