Aftermarket taillights

After my wife thought it would be a good idea to drive the fattie into her 6 series beemer, i needed a new taillight Big Cry

(You should have seen the beemer’s bumper Big Cry Rolling Eyes )

So looking around, I thought I would take a punt upgrading the rear lights. I’ve often felt the original rear lights were a little fussy and busy compared to the rest of the styling of the car. Equally, I’m not that much of a fan of the newer style lights as they have a fair chunk of chrome in the bezels around the light which on my car where its gold and black accented, I just couldn’t see it working / looking right.

So instead, I figured the compromise would be new style, but blacked bezel lights … fitted this afternoon, and I’m very pleased with the result. The black matches in with the rest of the mouldings and gives it a nice clean unfussy look and retains the original LR design look rather than being blatantly aftermarket and different looking.

The lights were from eBay, and came with the pre-2015 adapter loom already fitted. The plastic feels fractionally cheaper/lighter, but they fitted perfectly without any hassle and were plug and play. V8 or else ...

I thought these were original until I couldn’t find them other than aftermarket.

Consider some of these I think!

Is that to look like a rolls or Bentley ?

To me that’s the aspect of aftermarket I wanted to avoid .. in that you’re going for a completely different look from manufacturer…. And it ends up being just that, a stick out.

They’ll likely work just fine, but not for me thanks. V8 or else ...

Looking at the first post on this thread, I think the replacement lights look a lot classier than the ones that were damaged / removed, and they also tie in with the look and colour of the car perfectly, nice one Thumbs Up

They look great, plug and play and presumably they are also cheaper Very Happy
