Newbie- with a full fat

Good evening,

just saying hi, as I have just joined the forum as two weeks ago I bought my first full fat Rangie.

For the last year I have owned a Range Rover sport and although I like the sport, one drive in the full fat and I was hooked.

Took a bit of a gamble with the new purchase as I bought her unseen from Matthewsons Auctions (Bangers & Cash) but so far so good and the drive from Pickering back to Wrexham was very relaxing and a good test of the vehicle.

So what I have bought I hear you all ask??

2012 Range Rover
4.4 Tdv8
94k
12 month Mot
Orkney Grey
Black interior
Exterior Design Kit- Love the look of the rear bumper!!
Kahn Alloys- (was not a fan of these initially but they are growing on me)

Welcome to the board. Looks a lovely car you have there.

Well done on buying unseen. I have been promising myself a trip to Matthewsons but I know I will come back with something!

Cheers, it was total carnage when I went to collect the car as the amount of people who turned up just out of the blue to have a look around was unreal.

Reasonable price for sub 100k miles. Did it come with any service history and repair records? A thorough inspection by a good LR indy is always sensible. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Yes it has a folder full full of receipts and has just had quite a bit of suspension work and a recent gearbox oil change and flush.

I have done about 400 miles since owning it and it has not missed a beat.

Serviced it myself the day after bringing it home, with Millers 5W30 C1 oil and mann filters.

Just waiting for my sport to sell and then I can then put some money into bring her up to the same standard as my sport.

All electrics work as they should, even the climate control is ice cold. The only thing I have not tried is the sunroof. Its been along a time since I had a car with a sunroof so have got used to not using one.

As soon as I have a chance, I will get the underside treated with some Lanoguard that I have left from when I did my sport.

I do miss the fridge and keyless entry that my sport has but everything else about the full fat I prefer.

Looks nice, rare with the design pack on it too.

As mentioned above, the worst part of ownership is now realising you can’t have any other car again because nothing will live up to an RR.

It was the design pack that drew my attention to it as I wasn't really looking for a new car but saw this one and thought, why not.

Give her a quick clean this afternoon just before the heavens opened.

I plan on changing the front and rear discs and pads in the next few weeks so I went out and bought myself a new 3 tonne high lift jack with a max height of 525 mm. Went for a Clarke's jack from Machine Mart.

https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/clarke-cax...-stands-1/

I will more than likely give the calipers a quick lick of paint whilst I am changing the brakes. I do have a spare set of 6 pot Brembo's refurbished in Red, which i was going to fit to my L320 but sold the car before i got around to fitting them. However I think a coat of black on the Brembo's currently on the car will compliment the car better than the red calipers.

Use axle stands too. It’s a heavy thing.
I use 2 jacks and 2 axle stands

I do plan on using axel stands and still have my old jack, just the old jack doesn't lift high enough to get the wheels off the ground on a Rangie.
