Replaced battery and now rover cranks but no start.

Hi Everyone,

We have a 2011 with the 5.0 N/A engine. Started and ran fine other than a small coolant leak and slow cranking when starting. I pulled the upper intake off and found the coolant pipe that goes to the upper radiator hoses and engine valley to have a small crack. Replaced the pipe and reinstalled everything with new gaskets. Since the battery was getting weak I pulled it out last night and the wife went and got a new one today. I installed it and tried starting the rover. No luck, it just cranks and cranks. Sounds like it almost wants to start but wont. I’m baffled, I can’t believe fixing the coolant leak created this no start but I wanted to lay everything out for you folks. Is there an ecu reset or something? Any help is greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!

It’s 12.3 volts. I may charge it tomorrow just to see what happens

I had to turn the old one in as a core

while expensive, get a GAP tool and read the codes.

depending on how long the car has been sitting, or how long batteries been low. i wonder if some anti tamper has kicked in which needs clearing. Its actually a sport Sad

Not anymore, 4.4 TDV8 now Very Happy

If the ECM was removed to change the battery then check that the connectors are properly seated.
