SIM CARD & AirPlay

When I was driving today AirPlay turned off. When I stopped I try pluging it in and out as this fixes it when I had this issue before. It didn’t help it was then I noticed is is also no longer reading the SIM card.

When I push the top of the SIM card it pops up but not enough to get it out.

So I am wondering how to get this panel out.
So I can check it is al ok.

Poland 2019 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Indus Silver

Hi, I was in similar situation 2 weeks ago
SIM card reader stop working and I couldn't take the SIM card out..
Below are pictures of broken part taken from my car

there are 3 flexible clips along the upper edge; 2 close to cig lighter socket, 1 more to the left
other 3 are along the bottom edge but they are fixed and firm; you won't be able to move or squeeze them

below you can see the profile of the top edge clips

here is part number but check according to your VIN number; my L405 is 2019 AB

I ended up asking LR dealer to replace the entire module; it is 1/2 hour job and costs around EUR350, including new part
Those SIM reader modules are fragile so proper replacement and warranty was key to me

I hope this helps

Another note - SIM module works well after the replacement but I noticed that I lost the ability to connect to external wifi networks (i.e. home). Quick telematics module scan for DTCs and clearing them cured the problem; all works perfect now

Many Thanks for the feedback. I set myself to remove it today. Murphy's Law was hard at work. Everything was working. So I haven't taken it out. Now I will look for this replacement part, so if I do take it out I can replace it immediately.

Do people find the USB slots loose? I can move the plug up and down a couple of millimetres once I plug it in. SDV8 AB MY 2020

Netherlands

I had a range of cars F-Type / F-Pace / D5 and now the FFRR P400e.

They all experienced problems with connectivity.

Though I never had a problem getting the sim in/out.

Since the Netherlands are a small country, I easily end up roaming. And had heaps of issues with this.

Mostly driving with the "slashed G " around instead of "4G" ..

During the repair of the HTH for the battery (hybrid), I got an I-pace as a runabout.
I quite liked it and started watching YouTube videos.

I came about a review where the guy told about an issue with the remote app, and how it was all solved after replacing the TCU unit.
I found out it holds a small battery that dies after arbout 5 years.

I asked the garage to replace the TCU unit. Since then, it switches to whatever provider is related with my sim provider, no sweat.

Most noticable is the lightning-quick response of the remote app. Really stunning, never had this before.

The quote is €380 to replace it, I will decide closer to my service in October if I get it replaced - sooner if it starts having more issues. While searching the internet for this part, I saw a sticker on it that says "Replace if dropped", so I am thinking it will be better to get the garage to do this - labour is €80 of the quote - then the part is guaranteed for a year. SDV8 AB MY 2020

United Kingdom 2018 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Fuji White

Hi All,

New owner of FFRR…I have question regards SIM/Network….I have inserted the SIM card and have gone into settings to switch on the Data. I eventually get the 4G sign on top-left of the screen…But cannot connect to anything? Tried the Web browser, switching on Hotspot and connect phone to car…still no luck.

I have tested the sim inside a phone and that works fine?

I have tried 2 different networks sims EE & now 3. Both showing same issues.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you done a code check?

No I can’t connect to web via Sim or via WiFi. But managed to do the infotainment update via the WiFi.

I got a code check done yesterday at a garage for any issues and no error codes present.

The fact you cant use the web browser right outside your home, on your home wifi, could mean you need the Vehicle shared secrets software installed, or its the TCU at fault. Hope you have JLR extended warranty? either way its a visit to the dealer or a switched on Indie 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue
