Trailer plug permanent live

I have recently fitted a 13 pin trailer plug complete with plug in harness,to my 2011 4.4tdv8, and was hoping to be able to keep my battery Topped up by connecting the CTEK to the plug. However pin 9 which should be the permanent live is dead. I have checked the plug connector in the wheel well and the is no life to that either. I have also checked the relevant fuses in the rear compartment and they are ok. Does anyone know where the permanent live gets its feed from.

Would it not be a permanent live with the ignition on/car running ?
Seems a bit daft if it had a "real" permanent live because you could spend a day in a city with the big white box behind it parked up and find all batteries flat when you return to it.

Thanks for the reply. I understand what you mean , but as far as I am aware there should be a permanent live other than the ignition live which can be used for battery charging purposes etc,

The live feed is permanent even with car off and locked on pin 9.
Have a look at fuse 48 this is down as trailer battery? 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

200 TDi discovery bobtail gone
RR classic v8 bobtail gone
300 tdi Discovery 3 dr gone

As far as I'm aware, on later vehicles with the advanced BMS (2010 onward), relays cut circuits to the rear when the BCM sleeps.

However, it's not difficult to run a positive cable to your 13P plug if you need this. Heatshrink solder a spade connector to the battery terminal, and run a cable across the back of the engine bay and through the grommet for the bonnet release (easiest one to get a cable through). Then just pull up the sill trims and run through, which will chuck the cable out in the rear fuse box area. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

You don’t need to modify anything on the later cars.

I charge my 2011 4.4 TDV8 via a Ctek MXS10 and an adaptor into the 12pin electrics.

It clearly works as you can see the "progress" on the Ctek MXS10 panel Thumbs Up

Thanks for all the help everyone. It was in fact as v8 Bob suggested, fuse 48 in the front fuse box which had blown. I incorrectly thought that the trailer fuses were in the rear compartment.
Happy now I can use the CTEK without unlocking the car.
