2006 Range Rover Vogue SE Supercharged Bonatti Grey

My Full Fat got some love

I’ve had my Range Rover Vogue SC for 3 months now, she’s been cleaned regularly and I loaded her up with wax when I got her but i’ve done little else apart from the minor modifications so it was about time she got some love. The dealer kindly had her “mopped” by their bodyshop who kindly covered her in holograms before i picked her up.

The beginning

First job was to attack the wheels with some IronX and agitate using various brushes

IronX rinsed off

It was then time for a pre-wash for which i chose a mixture of Megs APC, Megs snow foam and Citrus shampoo

Left to dwell for 10 minutes then rinsed

She was then ready to be washed adopting the 2 bucket method and a lambs wool mit

She was then rinsed off and Tar removal was left to autosmart Tardis

The Tardis was left to dwell for a minute and then rinsed with an open hose.

It was now time to IronX the paintwork

My next step was to thoroughly clean the engine bay with Megs APC

I rinsed the engine bay and then sprayed a fairy liquid solution over the paintwork to remove any products previously applied (although Tardis does an excellent job of this) and more importantly to assist with lubrication of the claying stage

All of the paintwork and glass was then clayed using Sonus clay with a fairy liquid and shampoo lube.

She was then rinsed again

Snow foamed again to remove all the clay lube residue

Rinsed off and dried with a Chemical Guys Wooly mammoth

Now dry, she was taken into the garage to be masked up and for paint readings to be taken and various trims to be removed before machine polishing

My weapons of choice were, Scholl concepts S17+ with the spider sandwich pads and refined with 3M blue

After machine polishing she was taken outside, all tape removed, IPA wipedown to remove any oils left from the polish and she was snow foamed and rinsed again and pulled back into the garage.

She looked much better but i didn’t go mad as i intend to completely wet sand her in the winter and re-finish her to remove the standard Land Rover orange peel. My next course of action was to apply Poorboys Black Hole glaze using a Megs G220 V2 DA polisher and a Megs finishing pad

The wheels were then protected with 2 cots of Swissvax Autobahn

But as you can see the orange peel is heavily effecting the reflections

I then applied a coat of Zaino Z2

Reflections improved, especially considering she’s grey

I then gave her a wipe down with Zaino Z6 gloss enhancer

She then got a coat of Swissvax Onyx obviously after the Z2 cured.

The side steps and exhaust were polished up with Belgom Alu

All ruber and plastic seals/trims got the Aerospace 303 treatment

The interior was cleaned with Megs APC then dressed

Zaino was used to polish the glass

All exterior plastics polished with Zaino and then dressed with Megs ASD, and RainX applied to exterior glass and she was finally finished

Fair play to you, I wish I had the patience. I use the two bucket method too....I stand on one to reach the roof!

I'm looking to get mine detailed shortly and expecting to pay £300 or so. You can do mine for £150 if you like!

BTW A great looking RR. Current MY2020

Looks fantastic, I'd be interested to see the wet sanding results, I'm off to a Dodo Juice workshop next Sunday which will cover wet sanding amongst other things. 2006 Mercedes CLS

A detail with paint correction on a FF for 300 quid is very cheap

Make sure the guy knows what hes doing

It's not as scarey as it sounds, like most things you have to be patient 06 4.2 SC Bonatti Grey/ Ivory

Slightly off topic, but did you have the front grill painted black or did you DIY?

Front and side grill surrounds colour coded and grills themselves painted gloss black by a local body shop. Cheap modification but better than the plastic in my opinion 06 4.2 SC Bonatti Grey/ Ivory

I should complete my work. I did the whole bonnet and applied rain-x to the windows.

The rest I should do this week
