Airbag testing

Gents I need to test the cabling for the passenger airbag as putting a resister over it gets rid of the fault but only for a while and then it reappears so my thinking is the loom or a connector - I can cobble a test using a fluke which will give me length of cable on each pin of connector my question is if I disconnect the battery will I also have to disconnect the plug on the control module under the centre console to stop the odd airbag going off?
