Retro fit Head up display

In theory I’m guessing it is, but in practice is it straightforward? I’ve got it on the current car, but I’ve seen a car which I like the look of, but it doesn’t have HUD, and for me it’s must have. Hence the question!

Has anyone ever tried it?

Thanks

Sorry I can’t answer your question but I can only imagine that this might fall into the category of not economical to undertake, even if it’s possible.

I bought my car as a dealer demonstrator and it’s got HUD. It would never have been an extra I’d have specified from scratch, but it’s now one of the things I’d hate to do without. 2016 SDV8 AB

Thanks. My car was also a dealer demonstrator and like you would never have specced HUD, but now can’t imagine not having it. Even my wife’s mini (also an ex demo) has it.

I asked the question on the off chance someone might know, but, like you I fear it would be too much hassle and too costly.

A shame, because the car I’ve seen otherwise pretty much ticks every box for what I’d want were I to swap out of the current car.

Hi,

I assume even if you could get all the parts and the loom from a write off it'd be a real pain to get it all working properly.

I've seen these aftermarket so called HUDs on flea bay, I'm assuming they're pretty rubbish but you never know, they're supposedly linked to the ODB port data so may be worth a punt.

I believe you need to have some kind of semi reflective film on the inside of the screen to make it more reflective.

My Sygic has a turn by turn headup display mode, but it's simply not practical as it renders the phone pretty unuseable for anything else in that mode.

Has anyone tried these at all, are they any good ?

Twas a massive job and I couldn't get the OE HUD unit up and working as my 13MY car had a different Can-Bus system... Rolling Eyes Thumbs Up
