factory fitted tow socket charging a battery on a trailer

I've got a 12v battery fitted to my ifor williams to power it's hydraulic tipping motor and a winch.

I keep having to charge the battery but figured the car has the switched 'fridge' and seperate permenant 12v feed on the electrics to charge it.

What I can't find is any oem info on the protection etc, if wired up I'd obviously charge by the fridge wire as it is switched.

My question is, is it ignition switched or does it come live when the car is opened like most other things?

If it does go live when the car wakes up I don't want to be sat with the boot open loading a car with the winch and the power on the trailer starts to drop and then the car battery being drained leaving me stranded. Current

I have my fridge line wired to charge a battery and it only does it with the ignition on. Ignition off / doors open, it is off. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Hi, it depends how you've wired it, you have both options with a 13 pin switched or unswitched.

As for the onboard wiring this is probably your best bet https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/post499500.html

This guide is for the L322 but I assume the 405 is probably very similar. Fuji White 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westmiinster

The "fridge" supply is enabled by a relay marked "engine run", so hopefully no chance of draining the vehicle battery and leaving you stranded, protected by a 15A fuse in the rear fuse box

The "battery" supply is direct to the main battery via a 15A fuse so useful as a way to charge the vehicle with all doors closed and locked.
