How to identify an L405 with massage seats?

Hi All,

I'm considering taking the plunge from my trusty L322 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE to a L405 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography.

Having recently had an E Class with massage seats, this has become a must-have for me on my next car.

So, my question is:

Which model years of the Autobiography were fitted with massage seats as standard?

And on years where it wasn't standard, how can I identify if a vehicle has massage seats when looking at photos? Is the seat appearance or form slightly different? Are there any extra buttons on the seats or centre console? Is there a setting in the infotainment system, or is there a site to look up the reg of the vehicle and factory fitted options?

Also, I'm assuming the engine remained largely the same as the TDV8, but wanted to check the below are still all true items of maintenance to look out for:

Oil filter housing o-rings
Exhaust gas temperature sensor
Air conditioning compressor
Alternator

As far as I know, I thought all AB,s have this.
I never use mine though so I could not care less if it did not have them. overfinch modified

On mine (2013 AB) there is nothing in the front to indicate it. When I press the seat button next to the Hazard switch the screen then displays the massage / heat and cooling options for the front.

I have the Executive seating in the rear and they have easily identifiable massage buttons for each seat.

Love that function. I use mine all the time.

Thanks all.

I have now bought a 2015 Autobiography 4.4 SDV8.

One question though, I can't figure out the driver seat auto massage? I press auto and 60 minutes, then next time I start the engine, it doesn't come on automatically, and I have to go into the menu to turn it on. What am I doing wrong? 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

I'm still struggling to understand how the "Auto" system works.

If I turn the massage seat on manually with Auto off, it turns off after 10 minutes.

And If I turn Auto on, I still have to turn on the massage seat manually after engine start, and regardless whether I set 60 minutes, the seat still turns off after 10 minutes.

Any ideas or guides on proper operation?

Turning it back on every 10 minutes on a long journey is a bit annoying! 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Gary, auto turn on means it turns on automatically after driving for 5mins 10mins 20mins or even 60mins... They only work for 10mins at a time... So however annoying, that's how the system works unfortunately sir... Thumbs Up

Thank you for clarifying.

Do you know if the timing can be changed in the CCF, or if the timing is driven from the head unit or the seat ECU (I.e. would an Android head unit have the possibility to keep it on longer)? 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

No sir, I’ve looked into this and alas! It’s fixed at 10mins internally and I couldn’t find a way of lengthening it… Sorry! Thumbs Up
