Tpms compatibility

Hi guys.

New to ffrr here having just bought a 64 AB 4.4. It came with 23" overfinch wheels which are just not suitable for our local potholes. I'd like to change them for a set 21" or 22". I've found a later set but will the tpms valves on 2022 wheels be compatible with my 64 reg?

Many thanks for your help in advance.

J

If they are from an L405 with the metal valve stems then they swap in as ‘plug and play’ without any issues. If they are the newer type that are now used by JLR with the rubber valve stems then they still work but you need to code them to your car.

Thank you. That's really informative. Do you happen to know a date for the change? I suppose I can always look at the stem!

Is the coding for the newer type something that could be done by myself with an icarsoft or would I need to take it to LR?

Thanks again

I think the change occurred in line with the change from L405 to L460 but not 100% certain on that.

You should be able to reprogram them yourself with a TPMs reader/coder not sure if icarsoft does TPMs coding though.

@jjames - Did you by any chance buy your car from Barnet?
I was looking at a car there which also had 23” alloys, and they would have been my first candidate for changing.

I did! I'm sorry if I beat you to that one. Those wheels are just too big! They dont look too gangster but are a bit of a liability where I live.
