Excessive Tyre Wear on Inside Edge

I’ve noticed bad wear on the inside edge of the front tyres. I put it down to bad tyres etc but when I looked at someone selling a set on eBay he reported that his were 75% fine but the inside edge was badly worn with canvas showing.

Mine aren’t that bad yet, I would say I have similar though with ¾ of the tyre having 3mm and the inside ¼ being almost smooth!

Is this tracking or something else? I’ve never really got my head round tyre wear patterns.

I did notice the LR service schedule says remove and swap wheels front to rear and left to right at EVERY oil change/inspection. Is the L322 just dogged with bad tyre wear? I imagine the angle of the dangle changes when the suspension lowers to highway, could the wear be because I do a lot of motorway miles?

sounds like you need a four wheel alignment to me.... at a main agent blooming expensive... hitting large kerbs and rocks at speed usually knocks them out of alignment. There is loads of info on the disco / sport forums re this subject

then again it could just be the tracking on the front - I'd get a good tyre specialist to take a look, and strike a deal re price 1st should it need the full 4 wheel jobby

When I spoke to the dealer about this they said they dont do it in house, they take it round the corner to kwikfit as with all tyre work. Explains why my locking wheel nut was cracked to Censored and my wheels were scratched!

I've got similar problem but on outer edge, put it down to still driving like a car, taking corners too fast and also loads of roundabouts where i live. My last car had really bad outer edge tyre wear and I put it down to a combination of cornering speed and the number of speed bumps where i am upsetting the suspension geometry.

dont use the kwick fit crappy four wheel allignment system that sits over the tyres they are nothing more than useless i only use the hunter on wheel type they use them for racing cars and such like as its 100% accurate and the company is by my work lol . also bear in mind the rear wheels are adjustable on the FFRR crappy fit do not have the facility to check them i believe lotussport www.lotussport.co.uk have a dealer in wiltshire give them a try and let me know what they want to charge but it is worth it

( also anybody in the midlands want there geometry setting up on a hunter machine by people who specialise in cars worth more than the average house i can get very very good rates )

There is a place that uses the hunter system in Bristol, I'll give them a bell tomorrow and aee if they are open on weekends.

GTIR days as in nissan pulsar GTIR as skylines are just GTR i assume im correct lol never owned one but ive been in a few they are very quick as long as you can keep the gearbox under the bonnet rather than over the road Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter no connection whatso ever with drury lane garage other than they are on my friends database for dealers and yes im in the midlands but im more closer to worcestershire really Thumbs Up Thumbs Up onto no6 Range Rover

Yes it was a Pulsar GTiR.

A had the light weight Rally version, so had the stronger close ratio box in it.

Not quite as quick as the std version, due to the gearing, but still quicker than a lot of stuff on the road.
