Steering Rack Motor Failure

Hi, I’ve just encountered the same issue that exists for Disco and Evoque with the motor literally falling off the steering rack. All 3 bolts sheered. I’m just glad that I wasn’t doing 70 on the motorway or going round a busy roundabout. JLR customer services being usual helpful self and claiming it’s not a fault and car is out of warranty by 58 months (it’s a 2016 model).

Now I would have said that a known JLR issue using the wrong bolts/coating on bolts for all cars between 2012 and 2017 warranted a bit more than “sorry, there is no recall for your VIN”.

£2,500 for a new steering rack plus labour feels like more than something you can just get on with.

Anyone else seen the same thing? And did anyone get JLR to replace or at least contribute as goodwill gesture for replacement?

Caught this one before it failed completely. Exactly the same issue as Evoque and Disco Sport, but JLR won't acknowledge this as an issue. Much like when Evoque and DS racks started failing

It may become a thing if enough people report it (same as Evoque and DS Laughing )
