water in fuel sensor

I know i am going to get shot down but i have saved ££££ The water in fuel sensor keeps on coming up and the restricted performance ( yellow) come up every two /three starts . i reset all the codes and I have had new fuel filters etc and the fuel looked at and there is no water in the fuel .
So I have given up with the sensor and placed a 690ohm resistor between signal and ground and 12k between signal and sensor power on the wires going back to the ecu and for the last two weeks no warnings .
This modification works for me and if you do not think it is good then don't lambast me for doing it but it has saves the cost of a new filter housing as you can not buy the sensor separately, thus saving ££££ . 2012 Black 4.4 TDV8
