Front Drivers Airbag Service Kit - recommendations....?

Hi all,

My drivers airbag developed a split on Saturday and down we went to the bump stops on the A1...not ideal.

Anyway, I've got the old strut off today and can see the split ...its an original bag/strut so hasn't done bad for 19 years old Thumbs Up I managed to get the top strut bolt off so was thinking of just replacing the airbag with a service kit like this from Advanced Factors https://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/lr051700...5312-p.asp

Does anyone have any experience of Dunlop Service kits or can recommend another brand ? There are cheaper around but I don't want to be doing it again in 2 years ... Gavin

Shockers probably past their best anyways, I'd just change the complete struts, the o ring seals can be a bit of a trouble to seat if you only renew the bags...

Don't just do one - Replace both front struts completely. Fairly easy DIY job in the driveway. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

I did the whole assemblies on mine.

The front NS burst and when I cut open the old bag on the OS it was full of oil as the shock had burst.

Changing both front shocks and airbags made a nice difference to the way mine rode the bumps.

You might be able to see the date on the label on the old shocks, if they’re originals to the car I’d definitely change them Smile

Thanks all for the replies.

I found a brand new complete unit made by Dunlop - should be here in a few days. I'm pretty sure that Dunlop is OEM?

I'll do the other side when I find another one for a good price Thumbs Up Gavin

It's not! BWI is the OEM unit. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

… no need to shout ..

I’m seeing Dunlop stated as OEM on several of the parts suppliers sites so I’ll go with that thanks. Yes, BWI (part of Delphi) are stated as OEM, as are others. Gavin
