Extra reversing lights ?

Playing with idea of fitting extra reversing light somewhere under the car or maybe even "flush fit" ones in the bottom of the rear bumper.
Will they just splice into the existing loom or do they need a special relay or some other trickery in the BCM done ?

The stock ones are next to useless and I'd like the reversing lights at a lower point on the car.

Cheers, Ard

These might be a tidy option…

Or folk sometimes mount other types underneath the rear bumper, more out of sight.

No idea about wiring though

Good evening, I did exactly that, bought a pair of slim led spotlights, spliced the wiring, ran the positive and negative through the rubber bung, drilled two small holes in the underneath of the bumper, just before the end of the bumper, tightened the nut onto the threaded bar with a washer either side.
Now when she selects reverse it lights up the area behind the car, and the picture on the screen is so easy to see it makes reversing so much simpler, I also made sure to keep the light pattern horizontal so that it didn't blind any one or other road users, when reverse was selected.
The lights were a cheap set off eBay, about 1inch by 6inches and they've been on at least 3 years with no issues. Borrowed Grey 2002 3d 204k for a year

Looking to do the same as reversing at night is entertaining to say the least, any issues with MOT having 4 reverse lights or are they switchable? 2011 L322 Autobography - a lot of bells and some of the whistles...owner with no idea!

They are not switchable, i never thought about that when I fitted them. However the vehicle has been MOT'd at 3 different garages due to where I was and which garage could fit me in. And no one has said anything about it. Borrowed Grey 2002 3d 204k for a year

Actually just checked and the requirement is for at least one and doesn't mention an upper limit..... was convinced it was a max of 2

Hi,

Not sure if the same applies to earlier L322s but my 2012 uses H6 bulbs in the reversing lights.

Rubbish for sure so I opted for a pair of these:

No alarms, need a bit of fettling to seat as they are pretty long, but very bright and no need to change the looks.

Cheers

Andy

Thanks Andy, I looked at a solution like that but I'd like a better view of the ground directly behind and possibly underneath the car as well.

I had twin axle trailer a while back and mounted a LED worklight directly behind the rear axle on that to illuminate the ground under and behind it which was a treat in reversing as it also cast a shadow where the rear tyres where.

Need to order me a new reversing cam as well methinks Rolling Eyes

Hi Tiprat, I've been thinking about doing something like this for a while, was it easy to install in terms connecting to the wiring system for the reserve lights? I'm not the best with electrics on cars... Did you get them from these guys, thanks

No there not the one, my link has disappeared so I can't send it to you, if you DM me I shall try and take some photos of them and send them to you, and yes they were really easy to wire in, two additional wire of the correct length spliced into the main loom for the positives and then just spliced into the nearest earth. Two 8mm holes into the bottom lip of the bumper apox 1 inch from the end. Pushed the bolts through then a washer and tightened up. Select reverse and on they come. Borrowed Grey 2002 3d 204k for a year
