UV for tracing oil leaks

Has anyone tried this method? I know it’s used for the coolant but what about oil? I’m a little reluctant to put anything in the oil!

Thanks

Why would you? You can see oil.

It's used for coolant because coolant evaporates on a hot engine and whilst it can leave stains, they can be much harder to find. Kev

Yeah, I get your point, but when an engine is fairly covered in it, it’s sometimes difficult to tell where it’s coming from. The UV dye should make it easier.
