Water inside front crossmember -2003 TD6

I thought I had a radiator leak when I moved the car - it had been sat outside for several months as its not road legal currently and it gets moved around once a week or so.

Parked on flat level surface.

The front most section of the crossmember that runs across the the subframe (75mm diameter) has a hole on the rear face mid span and at the largest section of the diameter and was weeping rusty water down onto the undertray. That means the whole tube was filled halfway with water!

I have drilled an 8mm hole and deburred it internally and got about 1/3 of a litre out.

I have no idea how the water got in as i purchased the vehicle late December 2023 and its not been on the road since. It was valeted before I bought it and the wheel arches were clearly washed clean so something to bear in mind as a pressure washer might have found an entry point into the crossmember?!
