P400 Maintenance Recommendations | |
Hi, new owner of a 2020 P400 Vogue L405 here, looking for some advice on maintenance. I plan on keeping the car for at least 5 years as the main family vehicle, so I want to maintain it properly, whilst striking a balance between cost and not doing unnecessary work.
The car had its 4 year / 42k service in April at LR. By the book it’s not due another until 6 years, then another at 8 years. I’ll be doing 8-10k miles per year.
I plan to extended the warranty each year which I believe is about £1700?
I’ve read that two years interval between services is too long, despite LR recommendations, so I’m thinking a £99 ‘health check’, MOT and an oil change inbetween the major services will suffice to get me through another 12 month. But I’m not sure if the oil change recommendation applies to just Diesels and not my P400 petrol?
Back of a fag packet maths for the 5 years looks like:
Warranty x 4 years @£1700 PA: £6,800
Interim service at 12 months with oil change: £300 ish
72 month service year 2: £1,500
Interim service year 3: £300
8 year service in year 4: £550
Total £9,450 over 5 years (ideally all paid per month via a Land Rover service plan.)
That’s before I pay for any brakes, tyres, or anything else that goes wrong that the warranty doesn’t cover etc.
My main questions are: does the P400 Petrol need an oil change inbetween services? Or can I stick to the LR two year intervals? Any other recommendations? I take it the warranty is a necessary evil on these cars?
Thanks!
